Search continues for hit-and-run truck

Sheriff’s investigators and state troopers continue to search for an older model Ford F-150 pickup truck involved in a hit-and-run accident on Piedmont Road in Lamar County December 3. After the incident, the truck driver fled toward Pike County. The search went airborne Thursday as a helicopter was brought in to aid in the investigation. Trooper Truman Boyle noted the driver may be driving a different vehicle, having hidden the suspect truck. He urged those who may have noted such a change in driving habits to contact authorities. The Ford is thought to be in the 1987-1990 year model range. It may be a solid color or two-tone but is predominately light in color. It is believed to have considerable bondo and primer on the passenger side and possibly elsewhere. It does have recent damage to the passenger side including but not limited to headlight, quarter panel, passenger window and rear tail light. The truck may have been abandoned, hidden or taken in for repair or a paint job. Persons with any knowledge of a vehicle similar to that described are asked to call the Lamar sheriff’s anonymous tip line at 770.358.8881. The victim in the hit and run, Shane Perry, continues to recover.
