Second half surge gives Pirates victory

The Pike County Pirates trailed throughout the game against Callaway until late in the third quarter. They rallied with some good offense and rebounded in key possessions to pull ahead. By the time of the final buzzer the Pirates pulled off a 70-66 win in their final region game. Marcus Wilkens and Justin Guy had a great game; they both netted 15 points and six rebounds. Wilkens also had two blocked shots. Nate Ferrell had 14 points and three rebounds. The win was a milestone for coach Mark Andrews. It was his 300th win in his 29 years of coaching. The Pirates start region play this week starting Wednesday or Thursday depending on the outcomes of two Heard County games postponed due to inclement weather last week.
