U.S. Congressman Brian Jack and U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Scott Turner met with citizens at Christ Chapel and Harvest Time Revival Church in Zebulon during a Sunday, Nov. 16 visit to the area.
“I pledged to bring America’s leaders to our communities to showcase the incredible things happening across Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District,” said Congressman Jack. “I’m honored to keep that promise, and we’re already planning more visits in the coming months.”
During each service, Secretary Turner, a former NFL player, shared his testament of faith, and his inspirational journey from a difficult childhood to professional football, to President Trump’s cabinet.
Congressman Jack introduced Turner at Harvest Time Revival Church on Highway 19 south of Zebulon.
“Scott Turner is the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and he is a strong leader for our country who does not shy away from his faith,” said Jack.
Secretary Turner shared a little about his calling and his relationship with Christ. He also shared the story of adopting his nephew and how he would tuck him into bed every night to pray before going to sleep.
“I waited for him to get warm and comfortable in bed before getting him on his knees beside me to pray. We have to be willing to be uncomfortable, even when we don’t want to be, in order to be where Christ wants us to be,” said Secretary Turner. “I don’t ever want to get to a place where I am complacent, where I have thought that I’ve arrived or I made it – because I am nothing without Jesus. Faith without works is dead. Remember those guys who hid their talents? Don’t hide your talent.”
Secretary Turner shared Jeremiah chapter 29 and encouraged everyone to follow God’s will for their lives.
“I’m so grateful for this season of life and that God has called me to be leader of HUD. I’m also grateful that I get to work with men like Brian Jack and Dr. Ben Carson. I rejoice in that because God has done it,” he said. “We can’t let our circumstances dictate our faith. I came from a childhood of brokenness, domestic violence and alcoholism and four of my siblings are in heaven now who died in the womb. God saw fit to give me life. He will never leave us or fail us. Whether you are young or old or in the middle, call out to Him and the Bible says He will hear you.”
John Hanson, Don Hanson and Randy Hanson spoke after Congressman Jack and Secretary Turner left to head to the airport for their flight back to Washington, D.C. They shared the story of how their father Aubrey Hanson traveled as an evangelist before founding Harvest Time Revival Church in 1969.
“Pastor Aubrey would say, put me in the White House from this very place and today we had the White House visit us,” said Randy Hanson.
Upson-Lee High School student Will Harrell recently had an assignment in his AP Government class to write a report about a Cabinet member – and he chose Secretary Turner, not knowing he would meet him in person just days later.
“God is on time every time,” said John Hanson. “It’s important for us to pray both for and with those who are leading our government at all levels.”
Secretary Turner’s visit marks the 7th visit by a member of President Trump’s Cabinet to Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District this year. On Aug. 21, Congressman Jack welcomed Vice President JD Vance, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency Lee Zeldin and Administrator of the Small Business Administration Kelly Loeffler to Peachtree City in Fayette County, where they promoted the passage and enactment of H.R. 1 – One Big Beautiful Bill Act at a local factory.
On June 28, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins visited EchoPark Speedway in Henry County for the Quaker State 400.
On May 2, 2025, Congressman Jack welcomed Secretary of Energy Chris Wright to Spalding County to celebrate the passage of legislation led by Congressman Jack that repealed a Biden-era regulation, saving hundreds of jobs at a local water heater company.
On April 17, Congressman Jack welcomed Administrator of the Small Business Administration Kelly Loeffler to Troup County, where they toured small businesses and hosted a roundtable discussion with community leaders.
