The Pike County American Legion Family will host the annual Pike County Patriot Day Observance program at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11 on the south side of the courthouse square in Zebulon. ’The Patriot Day Observance program honors the 16th anniversary of those who perished that fateful morning of Sept. 11, 2001,’ said Post 197 commander Bryan Richardson. ‘Please join the community as we honor and continue to remember the 2,977 victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.Highlights of the program will include the multi-organizational Color Guard (made up of fire department, sheriff’s office and military members) who will post the colors, special music, a Last Call Tribute to the FDNY and NYPD by the Pike County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office, a special 9-11 Prayer by Vicar Dwain Penn and guest speaker city of Williamson mayor and veteran Steve Fry. Seating is limited, so members of the public are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
