Slain Clayton deputy lived in Pike; suspect arrested

A veteran Clayton Co. deputy shot and killed during a traffic stop today lived here in Pike. He has been identified as Ricky Daly, 55, of Wrightsburg Way in Zebulon. Daly once worked at the Pike Co. sheriff’s office. His son is a lieutenant with the Fayette Co. sheriff’s office. UPDATE: The suspect in the shooting, 17-year-old Jonathan Bun, was arrested at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. His mother was also picked up. Daly was pronounced dead at Southern Regional Medical Center. He was assisting the fugitive squad in trying to arrest Bun when he was shot. A huge roadblock was set up on East Fayetteville Road and SWAT officers were seen searching the area for Bun, according to ajc.com. Clayton sheriff Kem Kimbrough was reportedly out of town at a conference at the time of the shooting. He was in Zebulon to meet with Daly’s family late Wednesday night before a press conference to be held early Thursday morning, according to our colleague Mark Winne of WSB TV in Atlanta.
