Storms hit middle Georgia; power outages contained

Central Georgia Electric Membership Corporation reported power outages from the Wednesday, Feb. 18 storm affecting 1,613 customers in five counties. At the height of the storm there were approximately 3,640 Central Georgia EMC members without power.  There were 21 customers without power Williamson area of Pike and power is expected to be restored Thursday. Central Georgia EMC identified 40 broken poles in the service territory and had ongoing restoration efforts throughout the night to restore electric service to these areas affected by the severe weather.  Up to the minute outage information can be found on our website, www.cgemc.com by clicking on the Outage Viewer, under our Quick Links Section. Central Georgia EMC serves approximately 49,000 members in portions of fourteen counties, which include, Bibb, Butts, Clayton, Fayette, Henry, Jasper, Jones, Lamar, Monroe, Morgan, Newton, Pike, Putnam, and Spalding.
