Students’ photos needed for exhibit

All Georgia kindergarten through 12th grade students can send photo submissions to SlowExposures and possibly win the Best in Show cash prize. The theme of the student photography show is, ‘What does home mean to you?’ There is no submission fee and students are allowed one entry each. Winners will receive recognition in United Bank’s 2015 calendar. Winners will also receive a cash prize of $50 for each of three categories, kindergarten through fifth, sixth through eighth and ninth through 12th. A cash prize of $250 for Best in Show and a $100 cash prize for People’s Choice will also be presented. The prizes for the show will be provided by United Bank which sponsors the student photography exhibit and reception each year. ’This year we welcome Judith Pishnery from the Savannah College of Art and Design as our juror. She is a professional photographer, teacher and one of the early supporters of Atlanta Celebrates Photography since 1998,’ states the United Bank website. ‘If you know of a young Georgia photographer invite them to check out the entry information at slowexposures.org. We’d love to see what they come up with.’ The challenge for photographers is to capture what home means to them by taking a closer look at things or backing away to get the full picture. Digital submissions must be received via slowexposures.org by Aug. 24.
