Two people were injured when a wreck between a driver’s education vehicle and an SUV occurred at the intersection of highways 18 and 19 around 3:45 p.m. Pike County Emergency Services volunteers used the jaws of life and other extrication equipment to pry open and cut open the doors of the flipped SUV. According to witnesses, the SUV was traveling north on Highway 19 and ran a red light, striking the white car. Traffic was temporarily stalled on highway 19 while the accident victims who were entrapped were freed from the vehicle and transported via ambulance to area hospitals.
