Tennis complex ribbon cutting is Feb. 13

For the first time in many years, the Pike County High School tennis teams will be able to host matches this season. The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Pike County Tennis Complex will be held at 4 p.m Thursday, Feb. 13. Fans are asked to stay and cheer on the PCHS tennis teams as they host Rock Springs Academy at 4:30 p.m.

The team is led by new coach Melissa Castleberry and she noted that many new players have joined the team this year. Stay updated on the teams through their new Facebook page at PC Tennis.

“I have been very impressed with our athletes’ abilities to adapt to change, their ability to recover from difficult matches and their ability to maintain good grades, jobs, and dedication to their sports,” said coach Castleberry. “Even when our athletes are not on the court, you will find most of them at the fence cheering on their teammates. These qualities are just as important as their individual skills on the court. We are so thankful to have amazing parents that trust us to work with their students and push them to be the best tennis players they can be. So far, we have played two non-region matches. Overall, we won both against Upson and Troup. We are looking towards both teams placing in the region tournament and heading towards the state tournament.”
