Pike County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to several tragic situations Saturday, Dec. 19.The first incident involved a minor that was killed in a four wheeler accident. Lane Brannon, was operating a four wheeler when it overturned on him causing numerous injuries. He was transported to Spalding Regional Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. At approximately 11:49 p.m. Traffic investigators responded to a vehicle collision on Pedenville Road. A Toyota Scion was found to have left the roadway and struck a tree. The two occupants of the vehicle Justin Turner and Deven Miller died at the scene, both were Pike County residents. Toxicology reports are pending as investigators work to determine the cause.A second vehicle accident was reported on Hutchinson Road during the same time frame as the other collision. Deputies arrived to find a Honda Accord struck a power pole shearing it in half and the driver of the vehicle, Steve Blanton, 56 years of age, injured at the scene. He was transported to Grady Hospital by helicopter. Blood samples were obtained by Deputies at the hospital as alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor to this wreck. Results of blood toxicology are pending analysis by the GBI crime lab. It was also learned that Blanton had a suspended drivers license, upon completion of the investigation the appropriate charges will be filed by Deputies.
