Tom Cruise lands in Williamson

Although he was not in front of the camera, famous actor Tom Cruise visited Peach State Airport in Williamson Sunday, June 28 during filming for his upcoming movie MENA. The scene filmed at the airport portrays Barry Seal – the real life character the movie is based on – as he learns to fly. The movie is due out in theaters in 2017 and tells the story of a pilot who works for the CIA as a drug runner in the south during the 1980s. Cruise visited during the filming and according to Ron Alexander of Candler Field Museum, he was kind and personable. ’He was a very nice person and well versed regarding aviation,’ he said. ‘He currently owns and flies a P-51.’
