A Coweta County deputy attached to the US Marshals Service Fugitive Squad was shot Sunday morning as a strike team moved to arrest Pike County murder suspect Antonio Murgado Jr. Murgado, 19, was also shot in the exchange of gunfire.
The deputy was taken to Grady in Atlanta and is expected to recover. There was no immediate word on Murgado’s condition.
The gunfire erupted when Marshals attempted to arrest Murgado at Shiloh Mobile Home Park off Hwy. 54 in Peachtree City.
