After years of prayer and preparations, Woodlands Baptist Camp in Concord opened for its first week of camp June 15. For more than three years, members of Berean Baptist Church in Griffin worked to make the camp a reality to fulfill the wishes of a former member.Scott Knight had a big part in building the camp and knew the man who had dreamed up the plans.’Hank Scheltema was a missionary in the Amazon for, I think, 45 years. He died in the Amazon but he always wanted to start a camp on his land. After he died his wife dedicated the land to the church for that purpose on April 9, 2006,’ said Knight. ‘Since then, Berean Baptist Church has started working on it and trying to get it ready to have camp. Just two weeks ago we started having it.’
