With football season over and winter setting in, Pike County’s high school wrestlers are gearing up for a new season. ”There are close to 50 on the high school team and about 35 on the middle school team,” said head coach Clay Warner between instructing students on wrestling techniques. “We all just practice together. We’re kind of like one big program ‘“ we work with the youth too.”Coach Brad Cobb started the USA Wrestling Team Georgia chapter in Pike County after coaching his son in Fayette County for two years. The team will accept new members until the end of December. Call 770-468-4687 for details.”One thing wrestling really teaches kids at a younger age is that hard work pays off. Kids start off as beginners and don’t win right away but the hard work is worth it,” said Cobb.
