Festivities will begin at 2 p.m. on the courthouse square Sunday, Dec. 13, with live entertainment, vendors, inflatables and kids can visit with Santa Claus after the 3 p.m. parade is over. Seating will be available for spectators on the east side of the square as the parade passes by. The parade entries will be announced as they pass through this area. This year’s parade will be hosted by The Pike County Arts Council Junior Players. Floats will be judged for various categories and winners will be announced after the parade. ’We would like to encourage all of the youth in the community to be involved in the parade including individuals or groups such as sports teams, youth groups, civic groups, school clubs, school teams, 4-H, FFA, boy scouts, girl scouts and more,’ said county manager John Hanson. ‘There is no fee required to participate, just Christmas spirit.’Applications are online at pikecountyartscouncil.com, the Pike County Arts Council Jr. Players Facebook page, via email at gblakeney@pikecoga.com, by calling 770-567-3406 and at the commissioners office at 79 Jackson Street in Zebulon.’This year’s theme is racing as ‘Mad’ Maddie Crane will be our Grand Marshal,’ said Hanson. ‘Maddie is a teenage superstar in the racing community. So racing fans and enthusiasts, we encourage you to come out and support the parade as well as entering your cars in the parade to celebrate Christmas and recognize another great accomplishment of a Pike County youth who is on the rise in the sport of racing.’
