Pike County students who will be juniors and seniors during the 2016-17 school year are encouraged to attend an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 15 at the Pike County Auditorium to discuss a new college and career readiness program. ’The purpose of the meeting is to offer parents and students the opportunity to explore if Zebulon High is a good fit for the student’s needs and goals,’ said superintendent Dr. Michael Duncan. ‘It offers maximum flexibility that will allow students to go at their own pace, so they can catch up; get ahead; take advantage of dual enrollment opportunities; or, simply begin working.’The Zebulon High School – which will be located in the newly renovated Pre-K building – will offer students individualized learning through a customized blend of face-to-face and online curriculum. Students would still be allowed to participate in Pike County’s prom and graduation ceremony. Zebulon High School will occupy a renovated portion of the ninth grade academy building, essentially two self-contained rooms.’It is funded in the same manner as a traditional high school although the instructional delivery model will be a blended learning model; that is digital on-line curriculum with small group and individualized support,’ said Dr. Duncan. For more on the meeting go to pike.k12.ga.us.
