The PC cheer program returned home from UCA Cheer Camp at Wolf Creek Lodge in Lagrange recently with outstanding accomplishments, proving that hard work, dedication and Pirate pride continue to set the standard for excellence. This year marked an exciting milestone as both the middle school and high school cheer programs attended camp together.
Cheerleading is far more than what fans see on the sidelines Friday nights. It is a year-round commitment that demands strength, athleticism, endurance, discipline, teamwork and leadership.
Pike cheerleaders serve as ambassadors for their schools, lead the student body in school spirit, support athletic teams throughout the year, volunteer in their community and compete in game day competitions where they are judged on their ability to lead a crowd while showcasing elite skills in stunting, tumbling, jumps, motions, dance and overall performance.
At camp both Pike teams represented their schools with excellence, earning recognition for their talent, sportsmanship and positive attitudes.
The high school Team earned a gold ribbon on its sideline cheer evaluation and a blue ribbon on its camp routine evaluation—an outstanding accomplishment that reflects the team’s preparation, skill and performance. In addition, four senior cheerleaders were selected to receive UCA staff applications, a prestigious honor awarded to athletes who demonstrate exceptional leadership, character and cheerleading ability. Eight Pike athletes were also named UCA All-Americans, recognizing their outstanding talent and leadership.
The teamalso earned the kindness award and the top banana award, honors that recognize teams for encouraging others, displaying outstanding sportsmanship and creating a positive camp environment.
The middle school team capped off an incredible week by being named camp champions in their division, the highest team honor awarded within their division. This achievement is a testament to their dedication, teamwork and commitment to excellence.
The cheer program extends its sincere appreciation to the school system, administrators, coaches, parents, local businesses, and the community for their unwavering support.
